    WELCOME TO THE HEART OF THE LUCAN REGION

    The “Telù” exhibition is the result of an initiative to showcase the bibliographic and instrumental heritage of the Centre for Integrated Geomorphology of the Mediterranean Area (CGIAM) and the “Maurizio Leggeri” Library, and draws inspiration from the inestimable scientific value of the research, analyses and studies on territorial and environmental monitoring carried out since the Centre’s establishment, in 1979, right up to the present day.

    In the Museum Hall, you can delve deeper into the history of modern seismology and its key figures by following in the footsteps of the Irish geologist, Robert Mallet.

    Moving from analogue to digital, you’ll see Alphonse Bernoud’s incredible stereoscopic images and immerse yourself in the 19th-century landscape thanks to the latest 3D modelling technologies. The “magic boxes”, on the other hand, will guide you on a journey of discovery through the historical equipment preserved by CGIAM.

    Moving from the global to the local scale, you’ll learn about the historical stages that led to the establishment of the Civil Protection in Italy and the creation of the first seismometer network in Basilicata, right up to the creation of the Potenza Urban Seismic Observatory, which represents a pioneering initiative on the Italian scene.

    In the Cinema Room, you can step into a real ‘mini-cinema’ and watch the screening of an audiovisual presentation. Through documents, archive images and testimonies, you’ll embark on a unique journey, woven together by the threads of memory and knowledge.

    In the Immersive Room, the virtual reality (VR) application will allow you to immerse yourself in a seismic scenario reconstructed using 3D animation techniques: an interactive and engaging experience that combines learning and technology.
